Teddy Faye is Stone's, Holly's, and Dino's nemesis, but now they have another one, the killer of this whodunit. In Washington, the murder and then a few days later the suicide of the spouse should have been been just that. But President and First Lady Will and Kate Lee ask Holly, Dino, and Stone to investigate it just to be sure. As they do more women are murdered, and they uncover someone called The Mad hatter from an Alice in Wonderland story. As the killer is revealed, and it's surprising who it is, everyone is surprised, and the killer gets off.The Teddy Faye plot in this story is baffling. I get the impression he wants to be left alone and that Holly wants that as well. But the Mad Hatter will keep this trio, especially Dino, on their toes.Stone has his wacko ex-wife, and Dino, now married, has a wacko ex-lover. A weaker story than usual. Stone and Dino (the two major characters of the series) are sent to Washington D.C to investigate a year-old murder. The murder occurred on the grounds of the white house but despite the facts that the crime was investigated by federal agencies and over a year has passed, super-cop Dino finds, within a couple of minutes of looking a stone lying in a garden which has blood and other material on it and which turns out (surprise! surprise) to be the murder weapon.Obviously SW likes to imbue his characters with extraordinary powers of observation and deduction but this stretched credibility much further than usual and since the rest of the story follows from this event, the rest of the story becomes tainted by this implausible start.
Do You like book D.C. Dead (2011)?
As always love the humour and adventure of Stone and Dino. A great little book as they usually are.
