Interesting story of an alien world whose women have been infected with a virus that renders them infertile. As the population begins to decline, the Ta'e'sha realize that they can mate with human women with some genetic revisions. They begin a program or voluntary and involuntary captures. The book uses some common sense. The woman's personal belongings are also taken, to help them maintain some semblance of normalcy in a very frightening event. They are careful to take only those without husbands or children, and whose disappearance won't be widely noticed. Thea is unattached with few who would miss her. She becomes the mate of the Ta'e'sha ship's captain and his partner.It was a fairly good read, and didn't feel so contrived, as many of these do. I would have rated it higher, but didn't feel much empathy with the characters. This was an interesting read....while the story as a whole was good I really enjoyed the short chapters on the interactions of the Gods/Goddesses from the two worlds.... and their plotting.... definitely going to read the second one cause I just have to know what exactly Skye and Gaia have sent to their daughters....I loved this from the Epilogue"Your mission, should you choose to accept it...." Skye intoned in a solemn tone, belied by the twinkle in his eye. "Is to confound, harass, and generally annoy the enemy to the point that they are gibbering monkeys"
