She was the only one left.”; Damien: of the Shades, aristocracy of thieves and murderers; friend of Ty’s at one time; takes contract someone placed out on Lily, countered by Ty, but he’s not giving up; in the end, when Lily goes with Arsinoe’s men, he falls in with Ty to rescue her; Jaden: served Arsinoe with Ty, but went AWOL when unjustly, cruelly punished; throws in with Ty;Arsinoe: goddess of the House of Ptolemy; sister to Cleopatra; power hungry; occasionally hints of humanity; currently influenced by down with humans Nero; 3,000 years ago killed Lilith, the mother vampire;Vlad: a relatively new vampire family; sees equality for all vampires; more of a scholar than a fighter; suspected of being behind the curse against Arsinoe’s people, but isn’t; helps Ty to recover Lily;Mulo: the gypsy curse that was killing the Ptolemy, especially when bringing in a new club member (vampire); Summary:Ty finds Lily after a year of searching for a seer; but when he sees her mark/tattoo, she knows she is something different and does not take her straight to Arsinoe… and when he finally finds out what she is, and wants to protect her, she leaves with Arsinoe’s people to protect him… but in doing so, she frees Ty of the chains that tie him to the Ptolemy; and he comes to her rescue – with the Cait Siths, and with Vlad… then he ‘claims’ Lily – and all is well…Memorable Scenes:“His bloodline was known for producing cold-blooded killers, after all. If you want to avoid becoming any of all of those things, thenyou need to pay close attention to what I’m telling you.”“It was the story of her time with Ty: moments of bliss, hours of irritation, and the occasional life-threatening event.”A voice in her dream, in her head, and finally inhis head “Share your magic. Break his chains.” The premise for this was interesting - shifter/vampire, vampire clans with roots in Egypt - unfortunately the execution was underwhelming. Tynan is considered of low standing among his vampire clan the Ptolemy. He is sent away to find a Seer, a psychic that will help their clan find who is killing them. He finds Lily and there is an immediate attraction. He is then torn between duty and love. I wish I could say there was more to the story but that's basically it. I loved that Lily has some major power and the scenes when she used these were awesome. But other than that she fell flat as a character. There didn't seem to be much more to her. Same with Ty. He was torn and wounded but I didn't understand his devotion to a queen that by his own admition was a tyrant.All in all, this had promise but just didn't deliver. We were introduced to some intriguing characters but there just seemed to be no depth to the story.Side note: I began by listening to this story and had to switch to kindle since narrator was very bland. Could be that the story, but he just didn't bring any of the characters to life.
