About book Dancing With Max: A Mother And Son Who Broke Free (2010)

I felt the emotion of Emily raising Max with his autism. Having watched it personally over the years, I understand the frustration and joy that Emily experienced, and the love that Max brought out of many people whose lives crossed his path. I could have done with some of Charles Colson's evangelizing and preaching in the epilogue, and I felt it detracted from the love that Emily showed through the book. Some might want to end with the last chapter to prevent the feeling I had at the end, and maybe without that I would have considered a 5 star rating. I read this book on Kindle and I would say I didn't really start getting interested in the book until somewhere around the 50% mark. I think I was hoping for more examples of Max, but there didn't seem to be a whole lot of descriptions about him and their trials they'd been through until you get to the epilogue at the very end written by Emily's dad, Charles Colson. While it was a good book and I could relate to some of the wording Emily used to describe her feelings, I think I was probably just expecting something a little different.
