One of the best historical romances I've read. Set in England in the early 1800's England, Tristan loses his mother and sister to sickness and is left in the care of his father. Defying his father as he got older, twenty-something Tristan is a drinking, dare-defying, scandalous socialite of the ton. Coerced by his father, Tristan marries Charlotte, a no-nonsense, sensible girl. But when her brother, Major Charles Mountjoy, aid to Duke Wellington, comes home on release, Tristan falls head over heels for him. Charlie takes up studying to be physician and gets Tristan to study as surgeon. Charles get recalled into service when Napoleon escapes and both end up in Brussels. Discovered by another officer puts their romance in jeopardy. HEA I really liked this. It was very sweet and engaging. I liked the historical aspect and the supporting characters were enjoyable as well. My only complaint, if you can call it that because it didn't really bother me, was the acceptance of almost everyone in their lives of their relationship. Each acceptance had good explanations, but I doubt any homosexuals in that era had anyone in their lives who were understanding. However...fiction. Nice, sweet, hot fiction.
