About book Cultivating Love (2009)

I could easily have read more about this pair of adorable cowboys. The family element was integrated well into the narrative, but I wanted to spend more time with just the boys on the farm.Their efforts to reveal their feelings to each other was unveiled well - slowly, deliberating and with the realisation that things can and do go wrong, so it's important to be clear about loving and sharing and wanting, and all those other worthwhile things.I thought some of the stuff about Stan was not explained clearly, but that's a niggle really. The rest made me really happy.(except for the bit about Ed's dad. That was sad). 3.5 starsThe characters are met about 2.5 years into their relationship. Joe and Ed seem to be comfortable where they are but there is a level of intimacy missing. As their lives are upended they work to find their way around the emotions they feel and how to express them. This is a sweet story and I really liked the characters, however I took points off because there were times when I had to reread a paragraph or section because I had no idea who was speaking. There were confusing paragraphs where both characters spoke and the usage of he/his was strange.Overall the story was great and I enjoyed it.
