This was a very quick to the point read; I liked that. It had gotten me to thinking and ask myself, " Ebony, do you really listen to God when He's talking?" I had to painful admit "No. Not all the time." This short story is a great way to get Christians to stop and listen. To know through everything there is a lesson He wants us to learn which He gives the answers to. The part that still sits with me is when he writes, "...how loudly must I whisper for you to hear Me?" I like it because it makes me wonder had I not been to busy with my life, maybe I wouldn't have made so many bad choices had I only listened. all and all its a great read. 4.0 stars for a lesson has been learned. Okay, 2-stars might sound harsh, but for me this book was just "okay", so 2-stars it is. With 170 reviews and an average rating of 4.4 stars on Amazon, and 66 ratings with an average of 4.12 stars here on Goodreads, I was just expecting MORE. I wanted to feel the love everyone else felt. I wanted to be touched, say WOW, think it was awesome, feel it was powerful, etc, but it just didn't do any of that for me. The writing was fine, but being a short story, it just didn't draw me in or make me at all emotionally attached to the main character before the ending. And the ending itself just made me think "yeah, okay, whatever". Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for this book. I'm sure there are others who do love it. So feel free to ignore my 2-stars. The book was free on Amazon for kindle for me, and may still be, so others can decide for themselves to see what they think.
