This one was good but I was a little distracted by the multitude of POV. At least she had the decency to make chapter or section breaks when the POV changed (read a story recently that didn't and, boy, was THAT confusing!) I always feel like a new voice needs to contribute to a story in a way that you don't get otherwise, needs to reveal details the reader is missing and wouldn't ever know otherwise. And, okay, that was probably true in a few cases. But I almost wish she hadn't included anyone's POV except Lacey/Lilly and Ty's. Let story #2 give us Molly and Hunter's voices and skip Ty's mom and Lilly's uncle altogether, giving us bits and pieces of their story in other ways. That's what I would have done differently here, I guess. I'm always up for learning new information later because the story isn't peppered with multiple POV...maybe it's the author in me who likes being the god-like creature who is the only one who knows all the details before the reader. Then again, when I write, sometimes I don't know them until later, either.Anyway, the story overall was good and I liked the characters - to me, that's #1 above all - but the weakness here was too many voices. It doesn't deter me from continuing to read her work nor does it keep me from immediately wanting to read Hunter's story. I love finding a new author with a big back catalog! Something to fill the time between new Jill Shalvis and Kristan Higgins novels! (When I'm not writing, that is).
Tertarik sejak membaca sinopsisnya, bahkan sebelum bukunya terbit. :)
Do You like book Cross My Heart (2006)?
Lilly, Ty and Hunter were the three musketeers. They were brought together by chance and bound by a secret. In an attempt to protect Lilly, the boys help her fake her death and escape to New York City. Fast forward ten years, and Ty and Hunter reconnect with Lilly in order to keep her greedy uncle from getting his hands on her trust fund. This wrinkle gives Ty and Lilly a second chance to explore those puppy love feelings they had as teens and see if it was really love or rather, infatuation, but first, Lilly needs to avoid being murdered!I like romance novels and as far as they go, this one was adorable (aside from the murder stuff). We got to see the romance and relationship between Ty and Lilly grow, but we also got a peek into a few others: Molly and Hunter, Flo and Andrew, Marc and Francie. I really liked Lilly, Ty, Hunter and Molly. They were great characters and I felt their chemistry with each other on a friend and lover level. The book was an easy, entertaining read.

I really like Carley Phillips and so this one was on my list to read. I think that I liked it as much or more than The Heartbreaker. And that is saying alot. Lily, Ty and Hunter are friends that live in the same house together after Lily and Hunter become Foster kids and are placed in Ty's home. They become very close turning into family for each other, though Ty and Lily never act on their feelings, they are in love. Lily came from a home where her parents recently died and her Uncle wants her

3.5 STARS"Lacey Kincaid is a classic New York success story. As the owner of Odd Jobs, she's gone from rags to riches . . . sort of. Because Lacey's harboring a secret -- she was born Lillian Dumont, and spent her childhood with a silver spoon in her mouth, until the deaths of her wealthy parents and the evil schemes of an abusive uncle forced her to take drastic measures. She'd never planned to return to her former life or her abandoned identity -- but when her childhood sweetheart, Ty, resurfaces and urges her to claim her rightful inheritance, she decides that maybe being the Dumont heiress wouldn't be so bad. Lacey's uncle doesn't see it that way, though -- and he's willing to do anything to stop her. Now, it's up to Ty to protect Lacey before that silver spoon becomes a silver bullet. But if they live through this, the future's looking bright for this downtown guy and his brand-new uptown girl!" (From Amazon)A cute and steamy romantic contemporary!
