I liked the action in this book. But the way it's between her and Tyler I really don't like. I don't like to see her go back to him after what he did to her. First tell her that he loves her and will come back. And when he does he comes back with another woman and sent her in danger to help this women. Is that somebody who really loves you would do. Xander is much better that way. Can't wait for the next book. Whilst I generally like the cast of characters and the supernaturally filled world of the Shaede Assassin series, I found this installment to be a deeply frustrating read. Most of my frustration is purely down to Darian's willful stubbornness to the point of stupidity and her complete inability to communicate like an adult. At all. I can't help but feel that most, if not all, her problems could be dealt with easily if she'd ever take a moment to listen before going off half-cocked.I also found the "romance" parts of this novel to be tiring and repetitive, mostly consisting of Darian again not listening and jumping to conclusions before whining about how complicated, painful or confusing everything was. It felt like I was suddenly reading a YA whinefest with more sex rather than reading a story for adults. To be honest I don't really feel the love she supposedly has for Tyler even though the narration keeps telling us she really, truly does. In fact I feel that she reacts far more strongly to Xander but refuses to truly let herself love him because of her past. It all comes together to make me feel as if both romantic options are overly contrived, not very believable, and ultimately just inserted in to the story because the author feels like it's the done thing to do.Overall this book didn't leave me yearning for the next in the series, but I think that I'd be willing to give it a go if the wailing and gnashing of teeth were turned down a few notches in favour of more action or mystery solving.
