WEB Griffin has been churning out books in various series for years and they all follow the same format. Great characters, bureaucracy, forms to be filled out, duty, honor, country, brotherhood, friendship, someone who has a lot of money, great plot, oh and a lot of action in the last 20 pages. Lately, his son has apparently been trained enough to take the reigns of the franchise. I enjoyed the book but it is frustrating not to have more action in it. I really keep trying to like this series. I've read all seven and keep finding stuff I like and don't like, leaving me with mixed feelings. Once more, Griffin spends hundreds of pages building the foundation for a black op and then sums the op up in several pages, including the death of some key characters. I like the concept and the characters, but after awhile, it is pulpy stuff without too much Science Fiction (not certain how realistic the "Crackberry" phones are... ) but after awhile it is all about this person threatening or deciding to trust another.. or this person angry and vowing fiery vengeance, or this one threatening and scaring another into compliance. I'm gonna keep hoping it hits its stride.But this one, is just a cut above medicority.

A good one in the series. Ending is a little abrupt.
