This book was an unexpected spin on "The Taming of the Shrew". Given the nature of that play, I wondered where the book would go. There was some passive- aggressive behavior still in the book, but it played out within the characters' motivations and the world-building that had been created. This is not my usual genre at all, but this author does a great job of drawing you into a story and a community. I can't lie; I love some good Amish fiction. This is my first book by Leslie Gould writing solo. I'll admit I had wondered if Mindy Starns Clark was pulling all the weight in the Women of Lancaster County series, but obviously Gould is also an excellent writer. While the story was fairly predictable given that she was basing it on The Taming of the Shrew, I found myself pretty captured by Gould's characters and enjoyed the book quickly!
This is an Amish version of Taming of the Shrew. A little predictable, but I enjoyed it.
