Oh my goodness, this was a moving and emoptioonally draining read of love betrayal redemption and so much agnst. It is a story told from Ben's POV. Ben meets and falls in love with Tim in high school. Tim is rich, good looking, and a jock so popular while Ben is a singer and average. making out in a park they are nearly caught, Tim breaks it of with Ben. Ben goes to college in Chicago for the first two years then come home wwhen his best friend, alison's father dies. He transfer to her college and they graduate there but on the flight back he meet Jace and falls in love with him. a few month before graduation he runs into Tim again. he is conflicted. at a birthday party Tim kisses Ben and Jace see it. then tim Send someone to write a false note implying Jace was cheating. Jace and Ben argue and break up for a bit. Ben runs to Tim they have sex then he find out what Tim did. Jace and Ben get back together. they marry and then Jace suffers from a ruptured anuerysm and recover but a few month later another one rupture and Jace dies. Two year later Alison bring Tim and Ben together and they still love each other. A note for the author:"Dear Jay Bell: You are a very cruel person. Really, very cruel. I have added you to the list of people that broke my heart without much effort, and you really should wish that we never meet because I don't know how I'll react. (Right now I'm grieving for one of your characters so I'd probably become a sea of tears. But, when I have time to process this and get angry... well, I really know how to be angry, and angry, crying me is not pretty, you'll feel really guilty.)Needless to say, I've never cried so much about a book before. I had to put it down and go to the swing in my yard for an hour or so before I was able to come back and finish it, in tears. That was a totally unnecesary move on your part, totally unnecesary. I'm a tissue-covered emotional rollercoaster right now. I can't see planes without getting sad. Care to imagine what would happen if I run into a blond steward? We need hope and happy endings in fiction, we don't get nearly enough of those in real life! I am currently scared of reading anything else you've written, wich sucks because this was a very good book and I already have the whole Seasons series, but you are cruel and you did what you know you did to my favorite character, so I don't trust you anymore. Hope you're doing well. Hmpf. ~"Yup, that about sums it up. Oh, my poor little Grinch heart... ----Guess what? I'm back. And oh yes, I'm angry.I slept on it and woke up furious. So much so I had to lower my rating for this book. I can't believe that fucking Tim got what he wanted, and I hate what had to happen for that. He acted like a sneaky, cowardly bastard and still, by some really unlikely and incredibly cruel (Yup, Jay Bell, that's you) twist of fate, got the best stand. That's bullshit. The character stars this book got from me are all Jace's. Tim, and even Ben a little were the reasons I lowered one from my initial rating, their back and forth that even during the book had me fuming, but was inevitably overruned by sadness at the end, being what really got to me.I'm still 100% team Jace and Tim can go chew on a dirty sock for all I care about.
