About book Cold Hard Truth: On Business, Money & Life (2011)
If you are a budding entrepreneur who wants to find out what it takes to succeed this is the book. He even has checklists that ask you the hard questions like - do you want holidays, do you want time with your wife (on holidays), do you want to attend your kids' soccer games regularly, do you want to get 6 hours of sleep a night, do you want security of not worrying about your job - then you are not suitable to be an entrepreneur. After the launch of his book he and his wife Linda divorced. I guess she had had enough! His story solidifies my feeling that exceedingly hard work and luck are the main ingredients for success. Great book. 'Cold Hard Truth' by Kevin O'Leary was better than I expected, but still not my favourite book or even a topic I would normally read. O'Leary keeps the chapters short and the pace fast making it a fairly easy read. The book suggests that Kevin O'Leary will be giving you tips on how to be a successful entrepreneur and I'm not so sure if the book really achieves that goal, rather he does a wonderful job on telling you how he became successful. O'Leary also puts in some serious plugs for his television shows and his business venture O'Leary Funds (just in case you are interested in investing). The book is bound to invoke some strong reactions because the author Kevin O'Leary is no more delicate than the dragon Kevin O'Leary. He is opinionated, rude, egotistical, and in many cases not very nice during the book...but as O'Leary tells the reader that is okay since he is kind, at least in business!
