About book Cockpit Confidential: Everything You Need To Know About Air Travel: Questions, Answers, & Reflections (2013)

Having a flight into a potential hurricane/tropical storm coming up (Dear Julio, please go somewhere else or dissipate!), I felt the need to squeeze this into my reading schedule. It was fun, entertaining and incredibly soothing. I highly recommend this to anyone being a reluctant flier like myself. And, while I'm still not exactly thrilled about the weather, bizarrely, my biggest worry now is spending hours waiting for flight clearance in the airport with kids ... (btw I cannot fathom why anyone would complain about flights or delays etc while traveling without kids .. the idea of being stuck somewhere for hours with nothing to do besides reading a book sounds heavenly to me). As someone who flies a lot, I really enjoyed this book, written by a commercial airline pilot, Patrick Smith. What I found most enjoyable was the fact that he minimizes explaining the physics of flying and focuses more on his opinions of traveling, from security to airlines and their logos to airports. It was really enjoyable to read his opinions about all of these from the perspective of being a pilot. If you're fearful of flying, you'll get a lot of comfort from this book, but that is not the primary purpose of why he wrote this book. Mr. Smith also has a website, called "Ask the Pilot", which I have already bookmarked and go to very frequently since I read his book.
