About book Coal To Diamonds: A Memoir (2012)

Ditto's memoir is frank and funny, and feels exactly a conversation with dance-pop trio Gossip's fierce frontwoman. She's chatty, a little rambly, and out to "make the world bigger for everyone." Ditto has come through hell to achieve her success and, more precious, her strong sense of self, but she never sounds bitter. She sounds proud of herself and grateful to the community that has bolstered her. We should all be so gracious, and so fabulous. Beth is as enigmatic and lyrical about her life as she is in her songs. You learn more about the meaning of her songs if you read about her life, she makes them connect so intrinsically. I love her even more, through her tragedy, the dark, the loss of everything including her mind she is still a loud-mouthed-fat-feminist ( my soul sister) I needed this, I needed her strength to help propel me from such awful situations of my own.

Quick read. Interesting story. Funny at points. Not very well written which can be distracting.

A quick read. Not a punk fan, so I became less interested at the half way point in the book.
