About book Club Mephisto (2010)

This book was recommended to me by both readers and the author, Annabel Joseph. And when that happens, you have to read the book! I liked this book for it's storyline and vivid imagery. This book really stretched my thinking. Meaning, I have always considered myself a submissive, but this story took submissiveness to a whole new level. While I wouldn't want the treatment dished out in this book 24/7, it was a very delightful read and engaged my fantasies. I know it isn't for everyone (as evident in other reviews), but I really found the caging and orgasm denial delicious. I both ached for our submissive and found myself wanting to experience being at the peak of orgasm and yet not allowed to experience the release. And that whole thing of being fed, plugged, cared for and caged drenched my panties.OK, so I liked the book. It was well written, decent character development and held my interest. I am not big on all the group stuff, but there was enough one-on-one that it didn't matter to me. Nice job Annabel on your early classic that is timeless. Well. I wanted to read this, but I was kinda let down. It wasn't so much the content, as that kept me engaged, but more that I just couldn't connect to *any* of the characters.Molly - lord help us all if that girl had a non-slave thought wander into her head. I feel like she had so much potential and just *pffftt*. Is this what it is like to be a slave? Totally mindless? Perhaps. Chalk it up to YKINMK.Clayton - Good grief, I'm writing this review two weeks after I read the book and I totally spaced on the name. Not a lot of time was spent on him, but what was there made me feel like he cared for Molly, but didn't love her. That made this hopeless romantic a bit sad for that marriage.Mephisto - First off - I hate that name. What is it with erotica books trying to come up with more and more ridiculous names for their characters? I digress. Anyhow. I liked him ... kinda. So I guess I liked him the most out of all of them. Which isn't saying much. I am perplexed to see how he continues with Molly as he obviously fancies her, but I don't care enough to get the next book.I found the whole concept of one Master giving his slave to another Master so she wouldn't be bored in his absence amusing. Reminded me a bit of the Brie books by Red Phoenix. The orgasm denial was torture to read, poor girl! What a punishment. It did seem incredibly severe though, but I liked Mephisto's reasoning behind it.
