In this book Clementine and the spring trip by Sara Pennypacker, a curious little girl named Clementine starts to worry about a field trip that her class is going to be going on. She thinks that the fourth graders will try to punish her because she makes while she's eating and there is a specific rule that the fourth graders have created that says "No making sounds while eating." Clementine tries to get advice from her best friend that is in fourth grade ( Clementine is in third grade ) on how to handle the other fourth graders. Also, while Clementine is worrying about the field trip she is worrying about what bus they are going to ride on. There is a bus that smells revolting and disgusting inside and it's on bus seven so because of that smell kids call the bus "The Cloud." The children and Clementine soon go on their field trip and something very horrifying happens. Once they get to their field trip destination, Clementine hears an actress on the farm say that they were going to eat the chicken on the farm. Soon, Clementine decides to help the poor chickens and refuses to eat chicken again in her entire life. Soon, Clementine surprises the fourth graders by doing something with the the new student named Olive who is now her friend. Soon, the sound eating rule is gone thanks to Clementine. Read the book to find out more! This book was really great and I would recommend it to children who love friendly stories. There are a series of these Clementine books that I am definitely going to keep on reading. All in all, this was a great book! I just love Clementine, and I think Pennypacker has managed to continue to keep my favorite third grader fresh and interesting. This time, Clementine is worried about the upcoming spring trip, where she fears the wrath of the fourth graders if she can't refrain from making mouth noises when she eats. Best friend Margaret meantime is worried about the dirt and germs at Plimouth Plantation. Concerns that might seem slight to us loom large for Clementine and her friends. As always, the author manages to a couple times stop me cold with a few sharply drawn words on what it is like to be the kid who simply sometimes can't pay attention "I talked to him very kind like I wish people would to me when I can't pay attention," and "sometimes my feet feel like squirrels." Keep bringing on Clementine!
