We got this slim volume as an award for the library's summer reading program, so I decided to read it today. Otherwise, I probably would not read the fifth volume of a series without reading the books before it, let alone post of review of it! But even though I did not know the characters very well, Class President was still an enjoyable read. After all, I'm a big fan of Louis Sachar. This book had gentler humor than his Sideways series and was definitely aimed at a younger audience than Holes or Small Steps.Topics that made me think: What would I ask a U.S. president? Are we adults too jaded to seriously try to be "good citizens?"
Do You like book Class President (1999)?
The Marvin Redpost books are entertaining. Marvin Redpost Class President is a a marvelous book because he got to meet the President of the United States of America. In Marvin's classroom one day, TV cameras came waiting for a visit from the President. The President came to visit Marvin's class and Marvin got to shake the President' s hand. The President came to talk about how to be a fantastic citizen. A good citizen is a person who helps others. Read to find out how Marvin's family is surprised at the end of the book. I wish the President could come to my third grade class.
