I enjoyed reading a story of an unlikely friendship, and the illustrations were adorably, lovable. I think this is a good book to read to students in Pre K - 1st grade, when introducing a lesson involving the seasons. Perhaps you could read it to 3rd-5th graders who are learning about amphibians habitats and life cycles. Either way, it is a great book to have in your classroom library, and will allow the students to use their imagination's while wondering whatever happened to the country frog. Students may also grow to appreciate the friendships they have. Mo Willems, will you never run out of marvelous ideas, words, and images? This book is so different from the city/country stories where mice or cats exchange visits and encounter each other's habitat and decide they like their own lives best. I LOVED the seasonal format, and the way the new year brought a new friend, recognizing the mystery of the frog's loss without belaboring the absence in a painful way.
