About book Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn't Enough (2013)
This book was okay. A couple of 'new' thoughts that I hadn't looked at before, but if you've read one book about finding inner joy or peace, this one would be mostly comparable to any of the others. Joy is a choice. Joy is a habit. The enemy of our souls longs to steal it by any means necessary. It then becomes a fight to hang on to it. In Christ. These battles can only be won in Christ. I would much quicker recommend Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer along with the accompanying workbook. But, this book was ok. Kay Warren writes with beautiful honesty. I have highlighted so much throughout these pages, and this paragraph brought a realization to me that I can't wait for everything in life to be perfect before I decide to be joyful: "Yet sometimes moments are all we have. You and I can decide that we have this moment, and we will choose to love it. We're not denying that we have problems. We're not saying our lives are wrapped neatly with a bow on top and we have everything figured out. It just means that this moment is a gift from God, and we will cherish it. We will love it." I'll be returning to and rereading this book for years to come.
