About book Chickadee (2012)

I was disappointed in this historical fiction possible WAW nominee. It is the 4th book in the Birchbark House series, but that wasn't the problem. A map of the story is included at the front of the book and I tried to follow it but the story just didn't work with the map! So that bothered me as well as some conflicting info in the story. It's about twin Ojibwe boys who are separated when one of them is kidnapped. The whole family moves to the plains in their search for the missing boy as the remaining twin is in declining health from missing his brother. I'm afraid this is a no vote for me. Erdrich returns to tell the tale of twins. Chickadee is kidnapped and the family quickly packs up and goes in search of their beloved brother and son.Chickadee is book four in the Birchbark House saga. Without reading the previous books, a reader can read this story without much difficulty. Reading the background is a plus, but Chickadee is very enjoyable on its own. Location: Minnesota, United StatesReviewed from a library copy.

Do You like book Chickadee (2012)?

I really enjoyed reading about the Anishinabe culture. I'll have to find the other Birchbark books.
