I am a very slow reader but could not put this book down. This was a fantastic coming out story of a country singer scared to reveal her true identity for fear of losing everything she dreamed of as a little girl. Her stories gave you insight into the world of Nashville and what it takes to succeed. Chely, I am like you and wished we would have known each other. You are very courageous for telling your story. I always ask for a biography for Christmas and am happy for this one. The writing was simple and I did not have to carry a dictionary with me to understand it. I am not a country music fan, but I caught her documentary on tv and was impressed by her courage and honesty. this isn't a work of literary art, but it is written from the heart and exposes her fear...a fear that most of us struggle with: the fear of not being accepted. I applaud her honesty and her dedication to helping others find their truth and loving themselves. I just might have to buy one of her albums now!
Really good, although scattered at times
