Most of the plot involved Warith and his fascination with fashion, philosophies, sexuality, and necks. Some times, there were other narrators who break the plot in order to give insight into seemingly unnecessary details of the scene. But rest assured, these instances were amusing, funny as well as disturbing at some point. Warith himself had proven to be an unreliable narrator, as he broke himself from telling the story most of the time to tell the readers of his weird fascinations such as masturbating, cats engaging in homosexual incestuous relationship, and his fetish with strangling necks- thus the title Cekik.The writing style can be a bit confusing since the narrators kept changing without warning. But if you concentrate hard enough, it wouldn't be that hard to follow. This is the kind of story that was driven solely by the characters' narration, and not by the timeline of events. Everything happened as we follow the characters so yes, it might be a bit difficult for some to keep up. But I liked the complicated mess that Mr. Ridhwan had done here, it helped me to get immersed more with the story and the characters. At first I wanted to complain about some sub-plots which seemed to have no conclusion. But then I read till the end and I realized that this book was not about any closure or conclusion at all. Even after a rather shocking twist came there was no conclusion to satisfy the readers. This book instead focused on the issues of freedom, depraved morality, and downfall of the characters based on the circumstance they had found himself into. There were no conflicts or anything, no climax, no tension. What there was were empty thoughts of a teenager who might be delusional, the rantings of a university lecturer who explained and wailed after the society's hypocrisy, the sexual antics of a Chinese teenager and a Malay girl, and a porn movie that cause an epiphany among several characters. All of it very exciting.I have little complain against this book. I believe it to be an excellent piece of writing and should be read by anyone! I am dissatisfied with the editor though. Across this book, I cannot count how many times I stumbled into a typo. Usually I don't mind typos, because they were never that many for me to notice and remember. But since this time it actually disturbed me, the number of typos in this book must have been numerous then. However don't let that bother you, you should really read this one. adik aku cakap Cekik mungkin best sebab ia dari Fixi. well, bagi aku buku Ridhwan Saidi semua best, semua aku boleh baca dengan rasa seronok, dengan rasa puas hati, dengan rasa berbaloi sebab beli.tapi…Cekik ni…aku rasa lain sikit. aku beli dan aku berharap yang sebenarnya buku ni orang punya dan aku dapat pulangkan balik lepas baca. aksi 18sx yang aku rasakan hampir ada di setiap babak buatkan aku rasa tak selesa. selain tu, overall cerita ni best. sesuai dengan tajuk. buku ni buat aku rasa tercekik dan nak cekik orang. haha. Warith,16 tahun, yang bagi aku seorang yang naif kerana kerap dikurung bapanya. aku tak dapat bayangkan hidup dia yang terseksa kerana kerap dikurung. kalau perempuan aku boleh terima lagi. tapi lelaki? argh. stress! tapi dari seorang yang naif ni boleh lari ke bandar dan boleh bercinta dengan Suria, 32 tahun. bagi aku ini cukup amazing! haha. tapi mungkin semua ni possible memandangkan cerita ini pun is on 2020. mungkin pada zaman pascamoden ini semua benda bukan mustahil. even sekarang pun. cerita dari sudut Maggi bagi aku adalah sangat tak perlu. macam tak berkait dengan cerita yang lain! tapi, penceritaan yang bagi aku sangat menarik. at least boleh jugak merasa pengalaman Maggi. hahacerita ni buat aku tertanya-tanya, buat aku nak jerit dan buat aku rasa oh, dear god. haha. lari dari bapak di kampung, tapi akhirnya terjumpa Mak di bandar. dari seorang gf, rupanya dia Mak kau! part yang ni memang buat aku rasa nak muntah. haha. teringat cerita Gossip Girl bila Nathaniel Archibald slept with Chuck Bass’s mother. sumpah geli woi. memang kalau aku jadi Warith pun aku akan ambil keputusan untuk cekik diri sendiri! and again, pemikiran Ridhwan Saidi tentang benda seperti heterotopia, mihrab, mimbar, Mcdonalds, maggi, nafsu, tudung, liwat. aku rasa semua ni yang buatkan RS is RS. semua ni yang buat aku rasa tertarik untuk baca. at least dengan baca semua ni terisi juga otak aku dengan benda baru. dan, akhir sekali. Siapa? mungkin Warith tapi entah. macam tak kena. tapi kalau bukan dia, Siapa? Warith, kau bukan saja tinggalkan Detektif tu kegusaran sebab tak tahu perkara sebenar! 3 out of 5 for this. i can give 4 kalau ia tak begitu sarat dengan aksi senggama.
