About book Carnival At Candlelight (2005)

I like this book because it is A MERLIN MISSION book. In these MERLIN MISSIONS books, Jack and Annie have quests from the ancient wizard Merlin the Magician. These books are longer than the previous 28, and some take place in fantasy realms like Camelot. Kathleen and Teddy are two apprentices who befriend Jack and Annie during their adventures, with one of these adventures being to free Teddy from a spell. The two occasionaly join Jack and Annie and when they don't, provide them support instead.pg(1) Another reason I like this book is because in this book Merlin asked Jack and Annie to help on another Merlin Mission. This time they head back into history to Venice, Italy. With the help of a research book, a book of magic rhymes, and a set of mysterious instructions from Merlin, the heroes will save the beautiful city from a flood! Here’s another Magic Tree House book that will engage kids with history, magic, and nonstop action from beginning to end.pg(0) Who would like this book is my 5th Grade Teacher (Ms.Mccormick). She would like this book because she likes to read books like this one, this book is like a Harry Potter book. I know that she likes to read Harry Potter books because last summer she said that she read the whole Harry Potter books. One aspect I have for this book is that the setting is unclear. That is a aspect I have for this book because then I get confused where the characters are? Another reason that this is a challenging aspect for me because then I think the main characters are somewhere that they are not supoosed to be.A character that I can describe is Lorenzo Tiepolo. Lorenzo Tiepolo was an artist and son of the more famous Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. In 1750, he travelled to Würzburg with his father and brother, Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo, where he worked alongside them on the decorative fresco cycle in the Würzburg Residence. A number of drawings have been attributed to him from these apprentice years.

This book is part of a selection of books written by Mary Pope Osborne the collective of books is named the Magic Tree House collection. The books are based around a magic tree house which two siblings discover. The magic tree house allows them to go on adventures and time- travel to different parts of the world to see what the place was like in the past. The books tend to focus on real places and therefore are a good way of broadening children’s knowledge of the world. The books consist of around a hundred pages each and have some pictures; however the pictures inside the book tend to be black and white. I would recommend the book for KS2. The book started with a quote relating to the story as do most of the books in the collection. In the Carnival at candlelight Osborn mixes the facts about Venice in the 1700’s with spells and magic. The siblings are told that they must complete four quests if they want to receive the power of creating magic of their own. The quest in Venice involves a number of different things such of finding the ‘lady of the lagoon’, completing these tasks allows the siblings to come across different people who live in 1700’s Venice and also see festivals and traditions that were common in 1700’s Venice. Overall I would say that the book is a fairly good adventure story and a fun way of broadening children’s knowledge of the world.

This book was amazing ! A brother and sister named Jack and Annie are going on an adventure to be master librarians like Morgan Lee fe. It was early I. The morning when Jack and Annie woke up. They both were going to frog creek woods to the magic tree house. When they reached there, they both found a book on the tree house floor. It was a book that had a carnival on it. Annie and Jack wished that they went there. The tree house spun and spun until it stopped. They landed on a tree next to a carnival. There was a magic act being held at a tent in the middle of the fair, so Jack and Annie decided to go there. They both saw lions, and rats, and other animals that did tricks. Jack and Annie decided it was time to look for the object that Morgan told them to find. It was a lion gamers whip. So, they both asked the lion tamer for it, and he gave it to them. Jack and Annie was close to becoming master librarians. So, they both went home and put the object in their collection. The end

A nice mix of the original adventures full of fun historical facts and the new Merlin Missions featuring magic and literary references.Ok, I admit it, I barely skimmed the chapter with the rats in it. But the rest was great. My only real regret with this series is that Sal Murdocca's beautiful paintings aren't featured in color except for the cover art. I'm sure that the black & white artwork helps keep the book price down and makes the books more accessible to more kids, but having a few of the wonderful pictures in each book in color would be spectacular. I remember just poring over beautiful illustrations at that age, absorbing every detail. Although Murdocca's artwork deserves that kind of attention, regardless of color or not. They're just wonderful and add so much to the books.
