About book Call Of The Herald (Godsland, #1) (2008)

When I started reading, the prologue had me hooked at once. The first chapters were great as well, as first chapters. sadly, it feels to me as if the whole book has chapters like this. It seems like a large introduction and by the time I realised I was almost done reading, I was expecting at least double the amount of pages.. Had been looking forward to more in depth character descriptions and plot. It was not to be...Overall an interesting read, though somewhat superficial. makes me wonder if part 2 and 3 are more of the same... First part of three. You get what you pay for and this was free. It kept my interest though, and that's more than I can say for a lot of free books. My biggest complaint is that the character development is choppy. One second she's a girl on the run with experienced people around her, then she's suddenly giving commands and people follow. The plot itself seems choppy as well.On the other hand, the characters are interesting, as is the plot. I've seen worse fantasy published by known authors so....Overall, a mixed bag. Take it for what it is.

I quite enjoyed this book. Fairly standard fantasy fair, but an enjoyable read none the less.
