About book Cake Pops: Tips, Tricks, And Recipes For More Than 40 Irresistible Mini Treats (2010)
An AMAZING book! Whether a beginner or a novice to the wonderful world of Cake Pops, this book is just superb. Easy to follow instructions and lots of beautiful pictures to capture ones imagination and taste buds!Loads of top tips and step by step illustrated instructions too as well as lists of suppliers and manufacturers of where to source products. A firm favourite baking book of our families now which we refer to and make from time and time again. Lots of tasty little treats are here that are guaranteed to appeal to your child or the child in us all, all built around a common base but decorated highly to look individualistic and unique. This is not scratch cookery but a pragmatic approach by the author to use where possible ready-made mixes (or similar) to get to a firm foundation, allowing you spend your time creatively decorating your little treats. From instructions to how one makes the basic cake pop (think a ball on a stick) you are then shown how to transform the ball to great effect to things that you did not imagine you could do. Even the stick is optional!Cupckes, pandas, dogs, sweet hearts, flowers and Easter baskets are just a few of the many different projects you can undertake and, of course, you may adapt these recipes and use your experience to create even more wonderful things. Want a pig…? Well it is only a small transformation and change here and there from a dog's head and voila.. your own pink pig.Extensive step-by step instructions are given to make each individual project from its base foundation to the finished article, so as long as you can follow the instructions you will succeed. Each project looks professional as if you have been a master cake maker for years on end and these can make ideal little gifts, donations for fundraisers or just something different for your own table. The book is cleanly laid out, spiral bound and internationalised so you don't have to fear about using a specific ingredient that is only available in one market. Some brand substitutions and searching may be necessary or, of course, let your imagination fill the gap. You will not be disappointed. One niggle was the glossy paper, as this seemed slippery to the touch, but if that is the only thing one has to complain about you shouldn't be too concerned. Some of the recipes will take a bit of time and patience to get the right visual appearance, but a work of art is not always a quick thing and the end result will be worth the investment in time and trouble. If you are a shy person who does not like positive, overwhelming feedback, you may not like what follows when you show your creations! Prepare to wow and reap the heat of praise.Cake Pops, written by Angie Dudley and published by Chronicle Books. ISBN 978-0-8118-7637-7, 160 pages.
