I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first. I felt like the author really got into the groove of her story and characters. I enjoy all the characters and there shenanigans. Oddly, I even enjoy reading about the different cupcakes they bake. The author has a way of working them into the story without making it tedious or boring. I feel like I can almost taste them! Again, I did predict the murderer from very early on, but I'm thinking this just may be a cozy-mystery thing. It was also all a bit ridiculous how the killer was revealed at the end and didn't make much sense, but the book is so fun and playful that it didn't really bother me. This series is a light, easy read. In the second book cupcake bakery owner Melanie's mother goes on her first date... who of course ends up dead. I do like the premise of these books and I like to read the relationships between Melanie and Angie but the mystery falls a little flat. I figured out who the killer was fairly easily. I want to like this series but I can't get past some of the fluffy writing style. I'll try the next book however because I love the idea of the Cupcake Bakery. Hopefully, the author will add a little bit more suspense to the books in this series.
