About book Breaching The Billionaire: Alethea's Redemption (2000)
I've read all the books in this series back to back before reviewing them. Alethea protects those she loves no matter the cost but goes about it the wrong way. Always being on guard makes her an excellent security consultant but also makes her life miserable. Marc is head of security and ordered to find out if she's involved in problems in the company. The sparks which where already there are rekindled and they are explosive together. Marc is a great dirty talker "You dream of being taken, roughly, again and again.. You want to be the one who begs for release. i know what you crave, and I can give you that fantasy and more. But you have to submit to me fully. That's what I like. That's what I need". Once she realises Marc has her back, they work just as well in work as they do in the bedroom. An important part of this authors writing is the internal dialogues the characters have with themselves, often this is where the humour shows most, for example, Alethea praying before a raid "I'll make you a deal. I'll stop reading erotica on the internet if you let us all live through this. shit, I probably shouldn't have admitted I do that. and what happens if I break that promise? I'm right in the middle of a series. Stop. This isn't helping. Note to self: Never pray under pressure."The characters are fantastic. They're real, animated and full of life. The books focus on a different character's love story each time but with the others being involved in the background plot and this makes for a successful formula. Each time you meet a new character you wonder where their journey in this story is going to end. In each book there is an underlying plot which accompanies the two main characters finding their love for each other. The plots are well thought out and interesting but they could have developed more if the books were longer. You can read the books standalone but to fully appreciate the writing I suggest you try and read them in order. The author has a sense of humour which is conveyed through her characters and had me chuckling out loud at times.I'm very glad I discovered this author and look forward to reading other books by her. Ruth cardello is one of the author that made me appreciate indie authors. Some of her books may have been at times a hit or miss. But with the book, this was just a beautiful read. The characterization of Alethea is amazing. The writing is typically Ruth. I also loved the plot. The book came on full circle from its first book. The story although centered on Alethea. Her character is seriously complex and messed up. At times, I just want to hug her. She's distrustful aof everything and everyone except her best friend Lil. She's also loyal to a fault. I also appreciated how the story also focused on family and relationships. People who've healed and how they've moved whether from their past mistakes to their present. Forgiveness, acceptance and trust was emphasized in the book. Definitely, this book is a keeper.
