In this book, young Annabelle is going through her middle school years. When she gets back from camp she is forced to move 30 miles away from everything she knows and loves. Her single mother has decided to move in with her boyfriend, Dwebble, as Annabelle likes to call him. Her mother'a boyfriend and her mother move in and bribe her with a new adorable puppy. She is no ecstatic at first, but she learns to love the little mutt. When she goes to her new school she is bullied and she discovers something new. She finds out that boys are exactly like dogs. This book is a well written short book that tells a lot about middle school experiences in some views. I recommended this book to any of the girls that are in the 6th or 7th grade. This is a very great book and it tells a lot of facts about boys in middle school and what some of us girls have to go through. I thought the premise was interesting; a girl who has never had experience with boys suddenly forced to learn how to deal with boys. The thing is, the author didn't really seem to get kids. The dialogue did not sound realistic. For a book about how to deal with teenage boys, the author didn't seem to know what she was talking about. The situations were not realistic and the dialogue was not believable.
