A solid end to this alternate-history trilogy, The Boleyn Reckoning was both jam-packed with action and filled with passages in which the characters sat around waiting for stuff to happen. The modulation of pace did serve to increase the tension, particularly toward the end of the novel, but a few times I thought to myself, "Come on, let's go!" As with the other books in the series, clean writing and characterization. For those who regularly read science fiction, reading this as an alternate history (rather than the literary fiction version called counterfactual), you will be familiar with the theme, described in many time travel stories, of history tending to conserve itself, to return to a central or supposedly normal timeline, regardless of alterations. That's what happens here, after several false leads in the earlier books.

Excellent sequel. Well worth reading the trilogy for both alternate history genre and romance genre.
