About book Blutland - Von Der Leidenschaft Gerufen (2013)
It was a nice fluffy and entertaining read. The language of the writing is simplistic and the characters are not terribly complex, although the villain was given a satisfactory motivation for his evil-doings. The world of Sang is an interesting take on the traditional vampire lore.The way the magical locket works to bring Letitia back and forth is a good mechanic and her eventual choice to float between dream and reality caused me to want a continuation in her storyline. She's so frustratingly stubborn and indecisive! I read this for October's Vaginal Fantasy club's main pick. It is a steampunk vampire story in the loosest sense of both words. I guess it's steampunk because there are clockwork creatures. That's about it. The vampires are kind of meh. The best part are all the other animals that are also vampries, like the bunnies. The story is about a nurse, whose name I don't remember. She finds a mysterious locket, gets some acidic stuff on her hand when she opens said locket and eventually wakes up in a weird place. She meets the guy whose picture is in the locket. He is a vampire, but in his world they don't drink directly from humans. The story overall was ok. It was a quick read. The worldbuilding felt a little blah to me. Maybe it was unfair because the book I read right before this was the new David Mitchell book, The Bone Clocks. Maybe that colored my opinion of this book. I am not really that interested in reading more in this series, so I suppose I will never know.
