A Switch In Time. . . .I’ve always loved the “suddenly back in time” stories, the ones where Our Hero(ine) suddenly finds him/herself in some historical period or another. Blue Bells of Scotland goes one step further -- while one character inexplicably finds himself in medieval Scotland, another character finds that he has traveled from that era to the present. Both, of course, experience severe culture shock. So do the characters around them -- largely because one character is a totally self-centered jerk, while the other is as sweet and honorable as they come. Add to the mix Scotland (then and now), music (orchestral and folk), and women (compliant and strong), and Laura Vosika has written a great start to her trilogy.***I received this book free of charge, in return for an honest review.*** This book features Niall Campbell, a 14th century Scottish laird and Shawn Kleiner, a modern day rock star trombonist. Two very different men, from different worlds who look exactly alike. What they learn about themselves and the world in which they inhabit is the journey. I enjoyed being back in 1314 where honor and family and love of country were paramount. Compare that to the luxuries we have and take for granted in the modern world, seen through the eyes of Scottish warrior, it was hilarious and eye opening. I adored this book, the main characters, their women, Amy and Allene, and cannot wait to read the next in the series!
