I didn't enjoy this book as much as some of the other books by Douglas. I thought there was too much philosophy and not enough story. The author did make his views on organized religion well known. When the story was going it was pretty exciting but it was slow in between. The other thing was that in the Star Carrier books also by Douglas there were other characters that you would see the story from. It was a good book just not my favorite from this author. A nice read but was bit disappointed with it. An interesting story and I liked the idea of military sci-fi from the point of view of the corpsman. It had a good idea but found that the flow of the story was not the best. It was broken up a lot by long explanations about a wide variety of topics from the main character, from ideas of plants and whats found on them to how certain body parts work and the interaction of nanobots with the body. Overall it was an interesting read, and being a fan of both military sci-fi and medical ideas I liked the book but at times was annoyed by the constant break in plot. Will check out the next book at some point, but not right now.
