An interesting yarn that features stockbroker Matt Seattle down in Sarasota, Fl.. One of Matt's best friends/ clients is Joe Jesso who in his late 70's got married a week after meeting Janet Wakeman. Matt knows this is a huge scam but before he can help Joe, it happens that Joe passes away. Matt is quickly hit with a huge suit & set of allegations about his business dealings with Joe. Janet and her "brother/ lawyer" Greg Nevitt are out to destroy Matt and his business. Along comes mobster Don D'Onifrio who wants Matt to raid Joe's estate for money that Joe secretly swindled out of the mob. Matt and his lawyer Julian Ockerman, and along with PI Tori Wright devise a plan to have one of D'Onfrio's men pretend to be wealthy, and marry Janet to steal the money back. The scheme is supervised by D'Onfrio gangster WW, who follows Matt's every move. WW even kills one of Matt's family members to really shake Matt up. The story came roaring out of the gate in this novel. The middle was still holding it together pretty well. However I was really let down by ending. Kind of just turned me off to the book after I had enjoyed it very much until then. The characters and dialog are very entertaining. Frankie and his beer are a trip ! I'd recommend this for those not looking for a hard thriller without any mystery. It was okay overall. I gave it 4 stars out of 5. Really I would have given it 3.5 stars, but I rounded up. Give it a read, it's somewhat okay. Best of all this books very quickly ! It does fly.
I got this one free on Amazon. As of this writing, it's still free on Kindle.I actually give this book 3.5 stars, but Goodreads isn't into fractions. This was a fun read. Great pace, lots of action, interesting plot with lots of twists and turns. I took a look at some of the one star reviews to see why those people didn't like it. Mostly, they didn't want to suspend their belief systems. That's fine if you wan to live in reality 24/7, but if you, like me, read to escape reality and are willing to suspend belief in the ordinary everyday aspects of life and dive head first into a labyrinth of twists and turns where the unexpected lies just around the corner, then you will enjoy this book. Yes, there are things that didn't quite ring true. Like when the guy's dog is killed right in front of him. The dog that had been his lifesaver when his entire family had been wiped out in a horrible auto accident. He just buried the dog and didn't grieve the loss. Me? I would have been beside myself for weeks. Additionally, the protagonist, Matt Seattle, never seems to sleep. Ever. And when he does, it's for an abbreviated period of time. But, given what the author has made him deal with, maybe that isn't so strange. But like I mentioned, if you suspend belief and just dive in, this is an enjoyable read. I wanted to see how it ended. Kind of knew what would happen at the end but that didn't make it any less satisfying. Take a copy of this one to the beach with you. It's entertaining.
Do You like book Blindsided (A Thriller) (2011)?
Blindsided is Definitely a Five StarOMG, OMG. Jay Giles I am so happy I discovered your writing. I enjoyed every single words written in this thriller. The plot was exceptional and the series of events well orchestrated. I was so busy with work and school when I started reading this novel, yet despite exams, I would at least 4 pages. Then read again on the bus to and from work and with my eyes begging to close for sleep I just had to read a page or two at bedtime. I cannot wait to read your other pieces. Thank you for a wonderful read.

A thriller set in Sarasota involving a stockbroker, Matt Seattle, who unwittingly becomes involved with a drug cartel. Completely unused to the criminal world, he has to use his own initiative to try and solve his problem, which turns out to be highly implausible but interesting and entertaining. The author's style of writing is easy and flowing and I liked the characters. Seattle himself has an extremely calm disposition given the situation he finds himself in, although I thought Rosemary, his receptionist, could have been given a bit more personality and his PI seemed to lose some of hers as the story went on. Having said that, the book is certainly a page-turner and I look forward to reading more from this author.

An easy read full of intrigue and suspense - police, private investigators and the mafia! This fictional tale is written from the perspective of Matt Seattle, a stockbroker morning the loss of his family. When he finds out a client has died and will leave his money to a gold-digger wife he only just met & married, Matt has to find out more. The more he digs, the deeper the plot gets as it turns out some of the money he invested belonged to a drug cartel.Lots of twists and turns that made me think of the TV series "Moonlighting" and "Die Hard". Matt reminded me of Bruce Willis for some reason!Recommend it as a great free read.
