Following Edenbrooke, my neighbor brought me the second book by Julianne Donaldson, another 'proper romance.' I enjoyed it equally as well...light reading...wholesome reading...beautiful setting...and even some suspense. It does the brain good to engage in some reading once in awhile (for me) that doesn't require a notebook, highlighter, and sitting straight up. Curling up with a blanket on the couch and reading cover to cover in a few hours....ahh yes, it does the heart good! This book frustrated me to no end with its constant foreshadowing and hinting and longing and hopelessness and oh! The emotion!!! For pages and pages and chapters and chapters, I hated the uncertainty, but HAD to know how things would turned out! Finally (FINALLY!), everything came to a head, and it was just perfect. The writing was predictable and the blatant symbolism got a bit redundant... but it made me happy :)

This book was rather odd. I enjoyed it but she seemed so...blind to everything going on around her.
