I've heard nothing but high praise for this title, and I'm fairly secure in saying I can see why it was received. This first collection has some good characterization, good writing and great art -- the kind of art and paneling that makes you hold the book further away so you can see the entire page as one piece.This might sound odd, but the art and the inking may have been too good to be taken in via a trade -- it was kind of like eating an entire box of fudge (as opposed to the usual box of chocolate, which can be done easily). It was very rich and, as such, may actually be better appreciated in smaller servings. With no prior knowledge to The Avengers or Black Widow other than the films, this was a great read and a nice look into Black Widow as a character. The art is beautiful and very different from mainstream American comic superhero titles. Not only was it gorgeous, but there were no compromising poses done by the artist (not even a classic boobs&butt pose), which is amazing, but also sad that that's so rare. I'm very excited for the next volume.
