Ogni momento in sua presenza era un dono.In quel momento, pensò, amare Evie era il motivo per cui era nato."Questo secondo volume è stato ancora più bello del primo, l'ho davvero adorato! *ç* Amo la Showalter e qui l'autrice mette in campo tutta la sua abilità, iniziando con il creare una protagonista ad hoc, un concentrato di determinazione e astuzia ma anche di bellezza e gentilezza, Evie non è la classica donzella in pericolo che si butta nelle situazioni avventatamente e ingenuamente, è una donna coraggiosa ma intelligente che non si accontenta di stare nelle retrovie: piuttosto che nascondersi dietro al suo uomo preferisce combattere con lui fianco a fianco! (insomma è il contrario di Vika XD) Quando l'agente di suo padre, Corbin Blue, si presenta da lei gravemente ferito Evie non può negargli il suo aiuto. Inevitabilmente i due si ritrovano ad indagare fianco a fianco sull'esplosione che ha quasi ucciso Blue e in seguito alla quale sono spariti il padre di Evie, Micheal, e i due agenti John e Solomon. La passione tra i due complica le cose, perché Evie non vuole impegnarsi con un uomo che per il suo lavoro da spia non fa che sedurre le donne e lui non vuole perdere l'affetto e la stima di Micheal facendosela con la figlia off-limits. Ma quando c'è l'amore niente conta e tra colpi di scena, passione e missioni segrete si arriva fin troppo velocemente alla fine ç_ç In effetti sembra quasi che questo secondo libro chiuda un ciclo, perchè i buoni si sono riuniti e i cattivi hanno fatto una finaccia quindi nel prossimo libro dovranno spuntarne di nuovi...purtroppo sembra che Gena non abbia ancora finito di scrivere il libro sul "dorato" John (che qui se la passa davvero male povero! ç__ç) perciò se non sappiamo ancora quando uscirà lì figuriamoci quando lo leggeremo qui! D: Durante l'impaziente (ed eterna) attesa spero esca qualcos'altro dell'autrice altrimenti vado in crisi di astinenza XD I've not read a lot of Gena Showalter's books though I've always wanted to. The first one I read was the first in this series and I absolutely loved it. I couldn't wait for this one to be released and to read it. However looking at many of the reviews the first in the Otherworld Assassin series was not like her other books and many of her fans were disappointed but they seem to feel that this one is back on track and raved about it. I had the opposite feeling. I did like this books and found the strong female character compelling but it didn't suck me in quite like the first in the series did.As much as I liked the main female character I still feel like the author could have dug deeper into her and brought more of her to light. I did love though the way she is written you're not suppose to like her as first. The reader like the hero has to get to know her and see past her "bitchy" persona. She is very well written in that way.The main male character was way too superficial I felt, and though his background is touched on and his emotions as they relate to his missions I really would have liked it better if he'd been explored more. Especially as his relationship with the main female developed. They both have a lot of issues and I feel her's were worked through more in the story but his were just glanced over.Over all it was a quick, fun, sexy and exciting read. I'd recommend it if you're a fan of other world, supernatural, alternative universe/reality stories.
