I LOVED this book! Papa Bear has just started his long winter's nap when he suddenly awakens to discover his cub has run off. Papa Bear begins his search for Little Bear that continues on a number of double-page spreads. The search leads from the forest to the city and into an opera house. Kids will enjoy - as I did - searching for Little Bear and the bee he's been chasing. The scenes are busy with all kinds of fun things to see. This is an odd, but ultimately very successful picture book. Like most French humor, (imho) the punch line of this story mystifies, but the gorgeous charm of the illustration and the whimsy of the story are transcendent and intriguing. Children and adults will spend long minutes lost in the details of the large format pages as they search for little bear and delight in the many humorous Like the story it tells, the book is a perfect mix of the warmth of companionship and the thrill of adventure. "After all, hibernation is better with honey. And adventure is best enjoyed together."
