Este libro es de esos que te hacen sentir bipolar todo el tiempo pues tiene 3 protagonistas, 3 narradoras que intercalándose, pero solo con una logré simpatía. Sin embargo la narración y el concepto de la amistad de 3 mujeres adultas que giran alrededor de la búsqueda de tazas y accesorios vintage para el té, me ha fascinado, porque precisamente soy una busquilla de cosas de segunda mano y me he identificado un montón con ese ritual.Maggie fue mi personaje favorito y las vueltas que va dando su vida, aunque predecible a ratos, me han enganchado después de la mitad del libro (cosa que no pasaba en los primeros capítulos). Alison como mujer me agradó, pero me parece muy estricta e intolerante como madre y eso me hacía odiarla a veces.Pero siendo sinceros fue Jenny quien me sacó de quicio y me hacia retrasar mi lectura porque su vida era muy estereotípica. Abandono materno en la infancia, sufrida, con novio perfecto, con amiga estrafalaria y que su sueño es casarse con su novio en un ambiente que lleva soñando desde niña. No puede ser más Mary Sue y eso me aburría cuando tenía que leer sus pensamientos en solitario.Fuera de que sus protagonistas puedan o no agradarme, en su conjunto, El club del té es un libro muy bonito, muy sobrecogedor, que nos habla de lo bonito de la amistad, de tomar riesgos cuando se ama y de ser paciente ante las imperfecciones de los demás. Aunque por separado estas mujeres no tenían una vida atractiva que motivara a escribirles un libro, en conjunto eran maravillosas y la evolución de la amistad de las tres es algo muy entretenido y digno de leer. It was as if this book was just waiting for me. Sitting on the shelf, in it's dark green cover with the pile of teacups on the side with a bright pink title - "The Vintage Teacup Club". I knew I would love it. An older patron was checking it out one afternoon after having it suggested by a friend and I popped my hold on as soon as he left...I was not at all disappointed. Three women find a tea set at an antiques market and all want to purchase it for different reasons. They agree to buy it and share it as a group and become friends through this tea set. The text on the back reads a bit more treacle-filled than the story inside but the sweet premise of three different women finding value in the same antique cups and saucers leads to a roller coaster of a tale with infidelity, wedding planning, an assault on someone's core business values, bickering teen daughters, aging parents and all the other things that take life to the highs and lows we experience. The friendship that develops among these women as they face the year that is required by sharing the tea set is what makes this book believable and wonderful. I'm putting it in my "all-time-favourites" shelf but it almost deserves a shelf of it's own. Vanessa Greene has made magic happen in this book and I hope she is already started on her next book. Can't wait.
