About book Birthday Wishes (2000)

I think I'm going to change up my birthday wish list this year! Braxton Cole writes the most sinfully delicious detailed novellas, always making you feel like you just read a full length novel. I officially became a fan of hers after reading Blown, which was just as amazing as Birthday Wishes. I love the concept of Mari meeting a man online for the sole purpose of fulfilling each others sexual wish lists with no strings attached and no expectations. What I love even more is that Luca is a super sexy alpha male who easily fits into her life & becomes enamored the first time they meet. Watching their "relationship" play out was exciting and totally HOT! They have undeniable chemistry, and the intensity & passion in their sexual escapades was just plain enviable. This is the kind of novella that you can (and will) read in one sitting b/c its just that damn good. Well done Ms. Cole! I'm an even bigger fan now! Birthday Wishes is a cute little novella. It starts out with it being Mari’s 30th birthday. What does she want for her birthday? Clothes? Jewelry? Nope! She has met a guy through an online dating site. They aren’t going to date, but they’ve made a list of things they want to do sexually, fantasies that they’ve had, and together they are going to make those fantasies come true! Seems great, right? No strings attached and you get to mark some things off of your wish list. The question is, can they do all of this without having any feelings for each other? I think this book was good. It had some very spicy scenes in it! I know it’s a novella, but I think it could have been developed into a bigger idea with more back history to it and became a novel. And the other thing that dropped it down in my rating is the use of a particular word. I know there are other readers I’ve spoken with that don’t like this word used either. So it make me wonder how this would affect their view of the book. The author uses the word “cunt” a lot! And well, that’s kind of a turn off for me. Luckily the scenes were good enough that I could really try to overlook the use of that word. I give this book 4 stars. It did get my blood racing! And for that alone it still made it to 4 stars.
