About book Billy Bob Walker Got Married (1993)

This felt like a coming of age story and I don't mean as a teenager. I mean where a young adult realizes that their parents don't make decisions for them anymore. Shiloh was 23 and Billy Bob was 26, so they were relatively young. The book started out really well, but started to drag right in the middle for me. Shiloh was constantly wishy-washy about her dad and Billy Bob, about who she wanted to please more and that got on my nerves in a hurry. It did read more like chic-lit to me than a romance. What sex scenes that were in the book, were hurried and no detail. William Robert Walker aka Billy Bob is the local bad boy spelled with a capital B, but he has a right to be, being the illegitimate son of a bigwig local judge. He has a chip on his shoulder a mile wide. But when he mingles with pretty Shiloh Pennington, a big wig banker in town, all bets are off of who is going to pay up big time. When Shiloh makes Billy an offer he can't refuse, they manage to upset just about everybody in town. Including two daddies who are now gunning for Billy's head on a platter. Now if Shiloh and Billy can hold tight against huge odds they might just come out this with their love intact. Now some of my problems may have been with the age of the people, to me Shiloh and Billy didn't act like adults...they acts like teenagers. But you might like it more than I did.

This book is no longer in print so I had to find it used on eBay but I'm glad that I did. I'm a big fan of Lisa G. Brown(one of my favorites is High Stakes written by her as Dana Warren Smith) and she didn't disappoint with this one.It feels a bit dated but what contemporary written between Reagan's election and the launch of the first iPhone doesn't? Luckily, it's not as bad as some since she doesn't spend a lot of time describing clothes or referencing pop culture. What I liked:1. Great character development of Shiloh and Billy Bob (yes.. it's unfortunate that Billy Bob Thorton's face and voice from Slingblade would occasionally pop into my head). 2. Believable conflict. 3. Nice romantic/sexual tension. 4. Satisfying HEA. Highly recommend.

Do You like book Billy Bob Walker Got Married (1993)?

I’ll say this right up front: Billy Bob Walker Got Married is out of print. A reader recommended it to me, and she was so convincing that I bought a used copy from Amazon. Go forth and do likewise! I’m not kidding—this is a wonderful romance, a keeper, one that made me happy for two days. It’s set in the South, and it’s the archetypal bad boy meets good girl story: but the long, luscious, fabulous length kind that we don’t find all that much anymore. Shiloh Pennington is the daughter of the richest man in her small southern town. Billy isn’t anybody’s child because he’s illegitimate, prone to trouble, and good for nothing. They have a tiny bit of a past between them, just enough so that when Shiloh has no one else to turn to she grabs a handful of bills, marches up to the jail where Billy is locked up (for a bar fight, natch) and makes him an offer he doesn’t refuse. Can’t, really. That’s just the start of the story. This is one of those novels that alternate between heartbreak and joy. Billy and Shiloh have serious obstacles, not the least of whom is Shiloh’s enraged father who will do anything to get her back. They’re young and wild, and yet serious too. The way they learn to be together reminded me of Love Story –but without the tragedy.
