This was my first novel of Marie Bostwick's to sample …. and I was quickly charmed and captivated with the story. I loved the smart and sassy twins, Mary Dell and Lydia Dale Templeton, their quirky relatives and the Too Much townspeople, and the brothers the girls became involved with…. As the sisters struggle to keep their Texas ranch afloat, they also find a way to use their quilting gifts to open a shop that gives both sisters a new outlet for their energy, talents, and love for helping others. The story kept my interest from the start and kept it all the way through with wonderfully engaging characters …. My only small surprise - and disappointment - in this book was in the character change in one of my favorite characters, Donny - Mary Dell's husband - who after being the perfect sweetheart for much of the book,... helping to save the ranch, loving Mary Dell devotedly, and helping a troubled child … simply folds and takes off when his wife has a handicapped child. I kept expecting Donny to come to his senses and come back any time … or at least to learn what had happened to him. But that one thread was never tied off. …Despite that one small point, I loved this book so much, that I immediately went out to find the Cobbled Q!uilt series of Marie Bostwick's set in Connecticut … and I read every one of these books before looking for a book by another author. …. If you have not read Marie Bostwick, you definitely should!! This stand-alone title complements the Cobbled Court Quilts series by Marie Bostwick. In this book, we learn the back story of Mary Dell Templeton of Too Much, Texas, and how she became a quilting professional. Mary Dell and husband Donnie want a baby of their own more than just about anything. When the baby they are blessed with turns out to be different that expected, Donny leaves Mary Dell to make her own way in the world. Forced to take charge of her own future for the first time in her life, Mary Dell steps up to the challenge. I enjoyed this title very much. Highly recommended.
