About book Betty Bunny Wants Everything With CD (2013)
Overall, this was an okay book. I liked the idea that she was trying to be taught that she can't have everything she wanted and that money was not a toy, I didn't care for the ending where Betty Bunny basically just learned how to be crafty and even more inventive in her schemes to get more toys. The illustrations were visually appealing and really brought out the story and the dialogue between Betty Bunny and her siblings were quietly sarcastic which made reading this a little more enjoyable as an adult. I'm not sure I like how the problem - Betty doesn't understand that she must only pick ONE toy or she can't have ANY toys - was handled. When Betty has to return home without any toys as she refuses to pick just one, her parents decide to use this as a lesson to teach her the value of money. They take her back to the store and she can use a set amount of money to purchase whatever she wants. She buys a little bunny, but saves some of the money. But by the end she is filling up a cart again, saying that it's for her toy bunny. And could her parents give the toy bunny some money? Lesson NOT learned, in my opinion. I felt like the original consequence - not getting any toy - should have stood.
