I received this book via Lovers of Paranormal Group in exchange for an honest review. After the last book I was so ready to see who would be next and although I was certain it would be Kalen and Meliantha but was thrown for a loop but relieved eventually. I was so frustrated with Breena and Finn in the picture but what can you do? I like that the story focuses on the next of the four but I was glad to see more Ryder, I mean Cali and Ryder n it! *wink wink* All that aside turmoil has come to the courts gathered for the winter solstice and Alasdair had been biding his time and I was utterly peeved when I found out what he's done to Mel! I seriously had that moment where you want to reach in the book and kick some butt!Calista and the entire Winter, Summer and Fall courts are going to be on high alert for the ball and you would think it would deter Alasdair but no, he is ready and happy to have the situation. I am glad that Mel has sorted out the painful mess and found myself excited for her and Kaylen and honestly I didn't care much for Finn and the hurt feelings he would be sure to have. I really do like the world created visually in my mind in these books. L.P. Dover paints a great picture of scenery and the characters too. I hated what went down with Merrick in the last book and I was a blubbering mess for the whole scene but I like that his namesake appears in this book. The ball was amazingly described and it was stunning. But things quickly spiraled out of control. I read as fast as I could and was almost as upset as Mel about Kalen. I understand why she did what she did but it as completely playing into Alasdair's plan and I am so peeved he got his way once again! I love the strength of Meliantha's character she is a very kick ass warrior princess and I really do love that! I also like the pack of wolves that are close to Kalen. She handled the journey to get her King back amazingly, showing strength and wisdom. Just perfect! The end of the book was great and I was happy for Mel and Kalen and everything they were finally able to say and do. One thing I do love about these books is he epic destined love and bonds that are there. I absolutely love books about Fae and this series is quickly ranking in my top five! It's a bit more risqué than I am used to but I am acclimating to the NA genre.I have decided not to spoil any of these book. At least not on the blog, any spoilers I have will be posted on my goodreads reviews where I can hide them!I was mixture of emotions in this book, I have been happy, excited, sad, mad. I've swooned and been furious! I definitely had some laughs too, you know the kind where you laugh out loud and your family looks at you like you're crazy! LOL! Love it!Happy Reading! And I definitely recommend the series but definitely not YA!! I loved that this book picked up where the first left off. Loved Mel! She turned into a great woman and leader. It was nice to see such a strong turnaround in a character. As it was before, the characters are fantastic, pulling you into their story. I think the Dark Sorcerer is an ass, but I'm supposed to, right? He's the bad guy. I enjoyed reading about what happened between Mel and Kalen, and what happens at the end. This is a captivating series, I love all the different kinds of fae that appear, and the world that L.P. has created. The third book, Summer of Frost is up next on my list, so I can't wait to find out what new joys and dangers are coming this way.I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
