Just finished this wonderful little book on the Colts vs Giants 1958 NFL Championship game. Excellent insight into not only the game, but pro football during that time when it was slowly capturing the hearts of American sports fans. I love the descriptions of the players and their relationships in a time when they were like regular men. I did not know that many held jobs other than football during the season. Wish that the athletes of today would take the time to visit with many of these older vets to learn about the history of the game and how they related to the fans. Great read! This is an interesting book on the 1958 NFL title game as the cover suggests. I always enjoy books about how athletes in past generations went about their business. Also, when reading sports book, I've noticed 2 treads, those that read as encyclopedias and those that read as stories. (aka, dry read vs. rich read). This one falls into the rich read category and centers upon players of each team plus even a photographer. This was interesting to see how the game really did change football from a niche sports to a national passion. This is a nice relaxing one to open up on the front porch.
It had awesome pictures and it had information about players.
