My 4-year-old loves the "Bear" books. They have fun, rhyming, stories and cute illustrations. Almost every page ends with "and the bear feels scared . . . " which my child loves to say at the appropriate time.Excerpt from the book:"Later in the night, all clustered in a heap,the bears spins stories while his friends fall asleep.Cuddled up tight, they snore through the night.And the bear feels safe." The cover really does a good job of setting up the book. If you read the title, Bear Feels Scared, and then look at the picture on the cover, the reader really has to look at the details to figure out what may happen in the story. If you just look at the picture and see the bear scared and the other animals by him that don’t really seem scared, a reader may just get the idea that the bear’s friends comfort him. However, if the reader really looks at the details and the texture of the bear’s fur, the reader may get a better insight as why bear is scared. If the reader looks closely they may see the wind in bears fur and the rain going across the picture—saying part of the reason bear is scared.
