amazing as alwaus. each book she comes out with is a breathtaking story with characters that win over your heart. everytime ideas her stories I remember why I fell in love with her as an author years ago after I was giving the lioness rampage quartet as a gift for Christmas. I truly hope she writes another circle book. I want to learn more about luvo and evvy. I want each of the young circle mage to find loved ones and continue their stories. Pierce's darkest Circle book yet takes the fledgling mage Evvy, her young teacher Briar, and the ever prickly Rosethorn to the heart of this world's religion. While slow to start, once the plot gets rolling it doesn't stop until it crashes to a halt only a few pages before the end of the book. While I still enjoyed it tremendously and Briar has long been my favorite of the Circle gang, Battle Magic is a bit confusing. It takes place before the events of The Will of the Empress and Melting Stones, and frankly, doesn't always do the buildup of those flashbacks and references justice. The parts of the world it explores are fascinating, but overall it fell a little flat for me and ends rather abruptly in a somewhat Mary Sue way. Perhaps it is only because I didn't grow up reading and rereading this book, but it was not the exciting exploration of magic that I had hoped it would be.
