From there chance meeting at a Midnight Release of Final Destiny, a plot of comic relief ensues as George and Katie navigate those treacherous waters called LOVE.Perhaps it is because I am a Geek myself (I love Star Wars and video games), but I absolutely loved this book. Lanyon is a funny as hell sidekick, whose sole purpose is to annoy George (who really loves him around). George is a poor awkward guy, but manages to somehow woo this strange girl named Katie (whom he calls bitch after they fight over a game, at first meeting)Katie is equally awkward, who has limited experience with love herself, and thinks she isn't worth any sort of attention. You'd think things couldn't work out, but strangely it does for them (though much trial and error and mixed signals).I guess it shows that even we Geeks can get it right (and we are better than most people ;) ) Backward Compatible by Sarah Daltry and Pete Clarke is a fun loving journey into Geekdom with realistic gaming, language and interactions. Some of it was so close to my experiences it was eerie.Yet, the story and characters were also well developed and realistic. So, even if you were never a geek or played video games, there is a great story here. The interactions between the characters are particularly poignant. The understandings and misunderstandings drove the plot. I would list a few of the best character quotes but there are so many, I would have a hard time deciding which to. List.You need to read this book if you are a gamer or geek. If you aren't you are still likely to enjoy. Please give it a try. I think you will enjoy it as much as I did.
