I really enjoyed this book. It was a good read that held my attention from beginning to end. I read this book in one day. The only thing that I didn't like was the ending. It takes for you to get to the very end for you to find out why they went thru all they went thru and then I still feel like it didn't give me enough. I do plan to follow the series and I hope book 2 picks up exactly where book one ends I'd probably give this more a 4.25 than a 4. It started off a little abruptly, but other than that, it was a good read. It's not quite dystopian, but it reminded me a bit of the Hunger Games, with a fairy folklore twist to it. Warning for those with sensitive ears -- the main character drops a LOT of swear words -- probably one every two pages or so, at least for the first half of the book. But that really is the only quibble so far as suitability --and really, this is nothing any average teen hasn't heard before. The author builds this one up to a cliffhanger; knowing some of the folktales has given me ideas and questions about the nature of some of the characters --it will be interesting to see how close I come with my predictions. Yeah, I'll be reading the next one in the series.
