The story drags on and on, with supposed "revelations" to move the plot along. But instead of being true revelations, they're just boring additions to a story that has a lot of potential but doesn't actually go anywhere. It's hard to explain what is wrong with this story and the plot progression. It just feels like it stalls for a really long time, first to establish how suicidal and weird (the aptly named) Angela is. Then it stalls for a really long time to establish just how evil and slightly conflicted Stephanie is. There really isn't much behind what Kim and Sophie, even though I think the writer tries to cloak them in arcane mystery to make the story more interesting. The characters are all so similar that I have a hard time remembering who is who and what makes them an integral part of the story.Makes me sad because the premise has a lot of promise, but the execution is muddied and non-linear, with a lot of characters that seem to be just...extras with no purpose. This book sounded fascinating and had plenty of potential, but it failed to come through. It was poorly written and sporadic in some of the chapters. At times it was confusing and a lot of things were just thrown at you that you were expected to understand. I like the idea but the characters are just "blech". I did like some of the story though. Very little. Almost hardly there. But what I did liked. I liked very much.
god i hope it explains more in the next book so it will help me understand it better.
